Italian San Marzano Paste Tomato Seeds, Heirloom NON-GMO, Indeterminate, Open-Pollinated, Productive, Delicious, 3-4 oz., 80 days.
Keep moist, not letting the seeds dry out between watering. **SOIL Temperature for Germination: 70-75F. Planting Depth: 1/4". Sprout tomato seeds in small containers, preferably 4" or smaller. In-ground germination is not recommended. Use a standard potting mix that is well drained.
Start seeds in containers approximately 8 weeks prior to the planned set-out date. Plants should ultimately be transplanted to the garden 1-2 weeks after the expected date of last frost. Soil should be kept consistently warm, from 70-85F. Cool soils, below about 60-65F, even just at night, will significantly delay or inhibit germination. Additionally, overly warm soils, well above 90F, can inhibit germination and provide ideal conditions for seed rot.
Over watering can cause fungal growth which leads to seed rot. Excess water can also bury seeds deep in the soil where they will not be able break the surface. Water when the soil surface just begins to dry.
Multiple seeds can be planted in a single starter container, but should be thinned once seedlings appear so only a single plant remains. Seeds do not require light for germination but some light source should be provided for seedlings once they emerge from the soil.
This is the only strain of San Marzano tomato allowed in Campania Italy, the birthplace of pizza and tomato sauce. The fruits are blocky and firm with full bodied flavor. They are deep red inside and out. The plants are high yielding and the fruit is very uniform. As the most famous plum tomato for making sauce, the San Marzano is preferred by Gourmet Chefs and Cooks all over the world. In Italy and elsewhere in Europe, they are a household name. This is a good saladette type tomato, best eaten in salad or bruschetta or fresh salsa. San Marzano tomatoes have been designated as the only tomatoes that can be used for Vera Pizza Napoletana (True Neapolitan Pizza). The San Marzano vines are indeterminate and have a somewhat longer season than other paste tomato varieties, making them particularly suitable for warmer climates. Tolerant to V and FW. 80 days. HOW TO GROW: Once a few true leaves have developed, seedlings should be slowly moved outside (if sprouted indoors) to ambient light. Care should be taken not to expose seedlings to direct, scorching sun so plants may need to be hardened off via slow sun exposure. Hardening off can be done using a shaded or filtered light location, as well as protection from strong winds, rain or low humidity. Hardening off time varies, but can take 5-10 days. *** **SOIL Temperature for Germination: 70F **Plant Spacing: 24", **Hardiness: Zones 4-10 **Sun Requirement: Full Sun, **Days to Germination: 7-14 days under optimal conditions, **Germination Rate: 93%

Seeds for a type of tomato that is not common in Iowa. Hope they grow. I have had mixed results with seeds from Amazon some did nothing others were OK. (Wheat seeds never sprouted.) Herb seeds were good to go.
I've had almost 100% germination on every single seed pack purchased here on Amazon and the bad reviews due to seeds not germinating have been present for all of them. If you have any idea how to properly germinate seeds, these are excellent! I sowed 6 in rockwool and I have 6 sprouts about 1 and a half old now. Tomato seeds do take a little longer to sprout but that was expected. Don't let the reviews fool you; these are great so far and I will update this review once the tomatoes grow and mature. Happy growing!
I mixed a moist potting soil for vegetables and added some coffee grounds for nitrogen. Covered with plastic wrap and added holes for ventilation. Keeping moist and dampening the bottoms of the wells as needed. Kept in warm area with plenty of sunlight. No signs of a sprout in 3 weeks. Dig up one of the wells and found the seeds moist but no signs of life. Pretty big disappointment.
