This Trio of seed packets includes 3 popular varieties of Dandelion, including Garnet Stem, Common Dandelion and Chicory, or otherwise known as Italian Dandelion. Dandelion is often times seen as an undesirable plant, however they are actually very popular in todays world as a nutritious herb! Many people also grow these for their bearded dragons, rabbit and pet tortoises as well.

---|---|---|
Common Dandelion (250 Seeds)Dandelion is often seen in empty fields, along highways and most commonly seen in our own backyards. It is usually considered to be a pesky weed, but what you may not know is, Dandelions are actually delicious herbs that many people grow in their herb gardens! There are many uses for Dandelion plants, some are medicinal and often times the leaves and flowers of dandelions can be eaten in salads, or used as a garnish. |
Garnet Stem Dandelion (250 Seeds)Garnet Stem, Italian Dandelion will produce deep green leaves with red colored stems. The leaves of these delicious plants can be used in salads to add a bright contrasting color. Believe it or not, they are also popularly grown to feed pet tortoises & rabbits as well, its one of our best sellers for this purpose. |
Chicory / Italian Dandelion (250 Seeds)Chicory has light periwinkle-colored flowers that are similarly shaped to daisies. The blossoms are about .75 to 1.5 inches across, and the petals have a delicately toothed outer edge. The plant itself has tough, woody, hairy stems. The long, narrow, serrated leaves are a dusty green. If you break or cut the chicory plant, it will 'bleed' out a milky, bitter sap. |

As for the the dandelions, surprisingly, I have not had a lot of early success but recently it seems that I'll be getting a late crop of dandelions. The leaves I've been able to harvest are very tasty.
Update: I tried planting in the garden space the peas had occupied, after they died. Most of the seeds sprouted, but they were all so slow to grow that they had to be harvested for the fall when they were still fairly small. I'll try planting in the main garden again next year (2020) and see if we can get a crop.
Rather than purchasing all my fresh rabbit food from the store I am now growing quite a bit of it and this purchase was a successful part of that plan.
This morning I received an email from the owner of Seed Needs asking me to review the seeds. I normally pass by those requests but I thought about it, and I remembered picking some of the young plants just last night for my rabbit, Archie, and realized that the review was well deserved.
I planted the seeds about a week after purchase. It took a 2-3 weeks for the seeds to germinate but the whole area I covered with seeds now has flourishing dandelion plants of 3 different varieties. The germination success rate was excellent.
I've eaten a few of the young leaves myself and they are good but the real review goes to Archie who loves them, thinks they are beyond delicious, and just can't understand why I put them all in a place he cannot access (this bunny needs to learn portion control!).
Five stars for an excellent product! Quick shipping too. I highly recommend Seed Needs seeds!
